Who can apply?
- Incoming or continuing undergraduate or graduate students
- Must be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident (green card holder)
- Must be enrolled in an accredited United States post-secondary educational institution
- Must be an active member of their Muslim community in the state of Texas
- Must have a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average, for high school or college
- May need a co-signer for their loan(s)
Information you’ll need to apply:
- Proof of US Citizenship or Lawful Presence
- Proof of Texas Residency
- Copy of your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) for this calendar year
- High School Transcripts for graduating seniors
- Latest College Transcripts if you are already attending college
- Most recent Federal Tax Return Transcript (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript)
- One Recommendation Letter (from community leader and/or teacher)
About our loans:
Legal and administrative information:
- Qard Hasan Foundation loans are paid per academic term, directly to the educational institution
- Each loan is a separate legal contract and a different loan repayment schedule may be chosen for each loan
- Loans are to be used to pay for educational expenses, such as tuition, books, room and board
- All loans are interest-free and there are no application or processing fees
Loan Repayments:
- For each $2,500 loan you are awarded, you are required to make a minimum payment of $100 per month
- Loan repayments begin 30 days after loan has been distributed to the educational institution
Conditions for Receiving Additional Loans:
- Must be up to date on all existing Qard Hasan Foundation loan repayments
- Must be enrolled and making appropriate progress towards degree
- Must be in good academic standing at current College or University
